They are also certified in controlled substances, diagnostic, topical and oral therapeutic agents. Dr. Luisa De Faveri received her Bachelor of Science degree and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2009, graduating on the Dean’s Honours List. In 2008, Dr. De Faveri completed her ocular disease internship with ophthalmologists at the Scarborough Eye Associates and Bochner Eye Institute.
Dr. De Faveri enjoys getting to know her patients during the eye examinations and can often be found in the optical gallery chatting with patients as they arrive or when they come to pick up their glasses. She enjoys practicing all areas of optometry but particularly has a passion for ocular pathology and detecting diseases in the early stages as well as encouraging disease prevention. She thoroughly enjoys providing consultations for contact lenses and laser eye surgery, which both provide individuals with freedom from glasses. She also loves the fashion side of finding frames to suit each individual’s style and taste. Dr. De Faveri is an occasional clinical supervisor for student interns and values educating not only her students, but her patients as well.
In her spare time, you may see Dr. De Faveri at the park chasing after her three children and numerous nieces and nephews. She also enjoys travelling, sports, piano, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Lisa Federico received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree from the University of Toronto in 2002 and 2004, respectively. In 2009, she graduated on the Dean’s Honours List with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. At convocation, she was awarded the Cooper Vision Contact Lens Award for excellence in Contact Lens Care. In 2008, Dr. Federico completed her ocular disease internship with ophthalmologists at the Scarborough Eye Associates. Although a full scope optometrist, Dr. Federico has a keen interest in contact lens and pediatric eye exams. She loves to see the smiles on her young patients when they get their first pair of glasses and can see the world more clearly.
Dr. Federico has made Vaughan her home and she feels a strong sense of community when she runs into her patients while out with her family. In her free time, Dr. Federico can be found at various soccer fields, gymnastics competitions or hockey arenas cheering on her three children.
Dr. Amy Luu received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2009 and 2013, respectively, graduating on the Dean’s Honours List. At convocation, Dr. Luu received the Prize for Academic Excellence in Ocular Pharmacology and the Abbott Medical Optics General Proficiency Award. In 2012, she completed her ocular disease internship at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center where she developed an interest in ocular pathology and pharmacology. Dr. Luu enjoys pediatric eye exams and is passionate about myopia control. She has helped slow down the progression of near-sightedness in many children.
Dr. Luu is fluent in English and Chinese, and she likes learning new languages. In her spare time, she enjoys taking her sons and dog for a walk to the park.
Dr. Palma-Rosita Colalancia received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo in 2018 and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2023. In 2021, she was awarded the J. Pat Cummings Scholarship for Clinical Excellence. She completed her ocular disease externship at Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates in Maryland, where she developed an interest in retinal pathology. Additionally, she completed her paediatric internship at The Eye Institute at Salus University, where she was able to diagnose and treat a wide range of strabismus, amblyopia and binocular vision disorders.
You may recognize Dr. Colalancia from when she was a student at VFEC! She is ecstatic about returning to the office and reconnecting with patients as their eye care practitioner. She enjoys practicing all areas of optometry and treating patients of all ages.
Dr. Colalancia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, trying new restaurants, exercising, and cuddling with her dog, Buster.
The first friendly face you will likely see is Carmela who has been with us for over 20 years! She is always smiling and quickly recognizes people as they arrive.
Stella has many years of experience as an eyewear consultant and loves helping patients select a frame that compliments their features.
Kathy is our office manager who helps in making everyone’s day flow smoothly. She can be seen throughout the office helping all members of the team so make sure to say hi to her when you are in!
Palma is an optometry student who has worked at our office for many years in her free time. We are very proud of her accomplishments and are happy she loves eyes just as much as we do to want to become an optometrist herself!
Felicia is one of our patient care specialists. She’s typically helping the doctors with pre-testing or you’ll hear her welcoming voice over the phone when you call the office.
Dr. Carmen Santone has been providing quality eye care services since graduating from the University of Waterloo in 1974. His studies included an internship on the islands of St. Kitt’s, Turks and Caicos and Nevis. He served as a staff clinician at the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry for several years. Dr. Santone also completed additional courses in the treatment and management of ocular disease in affiliation with Northeastern State University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Santone has been a resident of Vaughan since 1981. He plays an active role in his community as a member of a local charity, Alternatives: Integrating People with Cognitive Challenges. When Dr. Santone is not in the office, you may see him at various fundraising events or practicing his golf swing on a local course.
